Painted as you read
Upload an EPUB or PDF you own and read it a sentence at a time, by hand or on autoplay. Its scenes are painted by AI just ahead of your place, so each picture is waiting when you reach it.

Bring a book you own. Read it a sentence at a time, at your own pace, over pictures made for its scenes. Its cover, its pictures, its music and its sound are made by AI. The words are the author’s own, unchanged.

Mr. Utterson the lawyer was a man of a rugged countenance that was never lighted by a smile; cold, scanty and embarrassed in discourse; backward in sentiment; lean, long, dusty, dreary and yet somehow lovable. At friendly meetings, and when the wine was to his taste, something eminently human beaconed from his eye; something indeed which never found its way into his talk, but which spoke not only in these silent symbols of the after-dinner face, but more often and loudly in the acts of his life. He was austere with himself; drank gin when he was alone, to mortify a taste for vintages; and though he enjoyed the theatre, had not crossed the doors of one for twenty years.

Every book begins on a title screen: Continue, Chapters that open as you reach them, and Extras — its characters, a gallery and its music, each only as far as you’ve read.
The Agora: every thread starts from a short quote of a book. Posts go by OP and Poster 1, 2… rather than names, and there are no likes, no followers and no rankings.
Your own DRM-free EPUB or PDF: a book you own, in a file you can open.
Borrow it from your library, or buy a DRM-free EPUB from its publisher — Kindle books can't be brought in.
Yes. A book’s cover, its scene pictures, its music and the sound of its places are made by AI. The picture above is one of them: the Commons edition’s own.
The words you read are the author’s own, unchanged. The AI paints, asks questions, and writes short recaps and notes that point back to the book’s own lines. It never rewrites the book.
Only you. A book you upload, its text and every picture made from it are yours alone, never shown to anyone else — not even to another reader who brings the same book. Friends see only what you choose to share, such as the title of what you’re reading. The AI services that make its pictures, music and reading help are sent only the passages each needs, and under their terms they don’t train their models on it; the Privacy policy names them.
It’s gone: the file you brought, its text, its pictures and music, your place in it, and your highlights and notes from it. A thread you began in the Agora isn’t part of your book, so it stays there with no name on it, and you can take it back yourself.
Your next book, as you’ve never read it.
